NCPDP and SureScripts Team Up to Provide Greater Access to SureScripts e-Prescriber Information
May 1, 2008 - Scottsdale, AZ – The National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP) and SureScripts, Inc. have agreed to enhance the NCPDP HCIdea™ prescriber database with practice location specific SureScripts Prescriber Identifier (SPI) numbers and their associated service levels.
"As e-prescribing adoption continues to increase, NCPDP has been contacted by a number of organizations requesting SureScripts information be included on the HCIdea relational database as well as the HCIdeaLook Up web based prescriber tool," commented Lee Ann Stember, President of NCPDP. "Our arrangement with SureScripts will satisfy subscriber needs and as e-prescribing adoption by prescribers continues to grow, our arrangement with SureScripts for distribution of updated prescriber information will grow along with industry needs."
SureScripts Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer David Yakimischak said, "SureScripts is very pleased that our SPI numbers will be included in the HCIdea file. NCPDP created the HCIdea database products with input by NCPDP members, for the members. With this enhancement, we anticipate improved provider matching accuracy, better pharmacy workflow, and broader dissemination of both the HCIdea™ database, and SPI routing numbers in support of e-prescribing."
