Cross Reference NPI & DEA Prescriber Numbers
HCIdea’s prescriber database addresses the need to have both National
Provider Identifier (NPI) and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)
prescriber numbers. Since the DEA is required for controlled substances
and the NPI is required for the electronic claims submission and process,
it is imperative that you have both prescriber numbers to ensure that
healthcare claims do not get denied.
The HCIdea database’s NPI and DEA crosswalk is a unique, valuable
feature that streamlines the prescriber data verification process of medical
doctors (MD), doctors of osteopathic medicine (DO), dentists (DDS),
nurse practitioners (NP), physician assistants (PA), optometrists (OD)
and podiatrists (DPM). Of course, the HCIdea physician and provider data
goes beyond the NPI and DEA numbers and provides a total of 17 tables
as a cross reference, including a “multiple address feature,” which groups
addresses for an individual prescriber under one identifier.
